Screen Print

Screen printing, also known as silk screening, is a textile printing method where ink or dye is pushed through a fine mesh stencil onto fabric using a squeegee. Developed commercially in the early twentieth century, the technique allows for precise, repeatable pattern reproduction with vibrant color saturation. Each color in the design requires a separate screen, making multi-color screen prints a labor-intensive but highly controlled process. In interior design, screen-printed textiles offer the crispness and precision of mechanical printing while retaining a subtle handmade quality, particularly in artisanal small-batch productions. The technique excels at producing bold graphic patterns, clean lines, and flat color fields that read as intentionally designed rather than randomly organic. Screen printing remains the preferred method for many contemporary textile designers who value the ability to achieve both detailed patterns and strong color impact.
