Rectified Tile

Rectified tile has been mechanically cut after firing to achieve precisely uniform dimensions, allowing installation with very narrow grout lines. This precision creates more seamless, contemporary appearances than standard tiles with their natural size variations. The process of rectifying—cutting and grinding edges to exact specifications—adds cost but enables grout lines as narrow as 1/16 inch. For large format tiles and contemporary designs where seamless appearance is valued, rectified tiles are essential.

Placement & Usage Tips

Use 1/16 to 1/8 inch grout lines with rectified tiles. Ensure subfloors are extremely flat—the minimal grout cannot accommodate unevenness. Use non-sanded grout for narrow joints.

💡 Pro Tip

Despite the appeal of minimal grout lines, some grout is necessary for tile floor stability. Never install rectified tiles with zero grout—the slightest movement can chip the precise edges.
