Fitted Sheet

A fitted sheet is the workhorse of the bedding ensemble, engineered with elasticized corners that grip the mattress securely to create a smooth, wrinkle-free sleeping surface. The elastic pockets at each corner stretch over the mattress edges and hold the sheet taut throughout the night, preventing bunching and slipping that can disrupt sleep. Fitted sheets are sized to accommodate specific mattress dimensions and depths, with deep-pocket versions available for thicker mattresses and those with toppers. The fit of a fitted sheet is critical to both comfort and aesthetics. A sheet that is too shallow will pop off the corners during the night, while one that is too deep will create excess fabric that bunches underneath. Modern fitted sheets often feature additional elastic along the sides for a more secure fit, and some premium options include corner labels to distinguish the long and short sides for easier bed-making. The quality of the elastic itself is a key durability factor, as it must withstand repeated stretching and laundering.
